The trail begins at Sykia and descends toward the Mornos, following a well-marked and accessible section of the Pindus Trail. After reaching the river, it crosses to the opposite bank and climbs the hill of Gla, where ruins and fortification remnants of an ancient Locrian city are found. Maps refer to these ruins as “Gla,” although this identification remains unverified, and no formal excavations have been conducted at the site. Naturally, the hilltop offers magnificent views across the Mornos valley and toward the peaks of Vardousia and Giona.

After recrossing the Mornos, the route takes a different path to the left, passing a small chapel—an ideal spot for a break—and the caves at the edge of the village. The only challenge along the way is the river crossing, which can be difficult if water levels are high. Otherwise, the route is suitable for beginners and families.
